MANILA, PHILIPPINES – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC/Commission) took part in the 10^th ASEAN Architect Conferment Ceremony on Tuesday, February 17, 2025, at the Makati Diamond Residences Hotel. The milestone event carried the theme Dekada Laurentes – Decennium: Vanguard Architectons for the ASEAN Future,” marking a decade of recognizing Filipino architects under the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Architectural Services of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).  

Led by PRC Chairperson, Hon. Charito A. Zamora along with Commissioners Erwin M. Enad and Conrado T. Onglao, the Commission joined key officials from partner agencies in conferring the new ASEAN Architects. These included United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) National President - AR. Jonathan V. Manalad, FUAP, PhD, PIEP; National Executive Vice-President - Ar. Chona E. Ponce, FUAP, PhD; Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture (PRB-ARC) Chairperson - Hon. Robert M. Mirafuente, FUAP, ASEAN AR., APEC AR.; and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson - Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, PhD.

The event convenes Architects who have met stringent professional qualifications – including accredited education, valid national licensure, substantial professional experience, and compliance with continuing professional development – making them eligible for registration as ASEAN Architects (AA). This credential allows their qualifications to be recognized across all ASEAN member states, enabling greater mobility and practice opportunities within the region.

With the Newly Registered ASEAN Architects in attendance, alongside dignitaries, industry leaders, families, and friends, the ceremony underscores PRC’s and ASEAN’s steadfast commitment to harmonizing standards in architectural services. The milestone reinforces regional collaboration and expands professional opportunities for Architects across Southeast Asia.
