Examination must go on!-- On April 25-26, 2021 the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), amidst the threat brought by Covid-19 successfully conducted the Pharmacists Licensure Examination (PhLE) in seven (7) different Regions.
It must be noted that prior to the date of examination, a number of Regions in the country were placed under strict community quarantine. The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) letter dated March 31, 2021 allowed the conduct of examinations only in areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), thus from eight (8) PRC-Testing Centers (Rosales, Lucena, Legazpi, Iloilo, Cebu, Pagadian, Cagayan De Oro, and Zamboanga) the PhLE was conducted only to seven (7) centers, Lucena City two (2) weeks before the actual date of examination was placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) under IATF-MEID Resolution No. 109-A.
Preparatory to the conduct of PhLE, PRC personnel who served during the examination were required to undergo Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Test. Likewise, during the conduct of PhLE, the PRC and the Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy (OIC, Honorable Anthony Aldrin C. Santiago and Honorable Members Mildred B. Oliveros, and Adelina C. Royo) ensured that the required health and safety protocols including the minimum health standards set by the IATF-MEID and the Department of Health (DOH) were strictly observed to guarantee the safety of the examinees and the examination personnel.
The success of the PhLE, despite all challenges, was made possible through the commendable assistance and support of the participating PRC Regional Offices, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, DOH, Local Government Unit, participating government hospitals, and other relevant government and private organizations.
Indeed, the PhLE is a statement of PRC’s strong desire to help the country’s battle against Covid-19 by ensuring a steady supply of quality and reliable healthcare professionals. With the one thousand one hundred sixty-eight (1,168) examinees, six hundred seventy- four (674) passed the PhLE, and now ready to serve the country.
