Manila, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) held the 12th ASEAN Chartered Engineers’ (ACPE) Conferment Ceremony last August 02, 2022 at the Novotel Manila Araneta City and via an online platform.
As the collaborative efforts of the PRC, CHED, and PTC on the continuous, effective implementation of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Engineering Services, the ceremony was conducted to develop and facilitate the mobility of Professional Engineers, and at the same time to serve as a milestone for the conferees as their conferment symbolizes an opportunity to have a recognized professional standing within the ASEAN Region.
In addition, the Professional Regulatory Board (PRB) of Electrical Engineering Chairperson, Hon. Francis V. Mapile, highlighted the significance of this year’s hybrid conduct of conferment, as it taught lessons on living through the constraints of the pandemic.
Onto the conferment proper, seventy-nine (79) conferees in the fields of Agricultural and Biosystems, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Geodetic, Mechanical, and Sanitary Engineering were gathered virtually and physically at the said ceremony, celebrating their recognition, opportunity, and responsibility as ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineers.
Further, conferees of this year’s batch will also expect a new lay-out for their identification cards upon issuance.
Present during the event were PTC Chairperson, Engr. Federico A. Monsada, CHED Representative Atty. Cinderella Filipina S. Benitez-Jaro, Philippine Overseas Construction Board (POCB) Board Member Hon. Michael Roberto P. Reyes, PRB of Electrical Engineering Chairperson, Hon. Mapile, Honorable PRC Commissioners Jose Y. Cueto Jr., and Erwin M. Enad, and PRC Chairperson Hon. Teofilo S. Pilando Jr..
Meanwhile, Hon. Pilando represented the ASEAN Monitoring Committee on Engineering Services of the Philippines (AMCESP) on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the POCB, through Board Member Hon. Reyes. The occasion was witnessed by Hon. Mapile, as a member of AMCESP, and POCB Executive Director, Ms. Doris U. Gacho.
The signed MOU aims to significantly campaign and promote the ACPE Registry (ACPER) among professionals engaged in the construction industry, following the approval of its inclusion in the Philippine Construction Industry Roadmap 2020-2030 under Professional Skills and Productivity Upgrading.
Through this collaborative pact, the increased and upgraded competencies and credentials of our professionals will enhance the competitiveness of Filipino construction and related engineering services, allowing them access to higher value employment through corporate exports, resulting in increased foreign exchange earnings for the country and hastened economic recovery.
