PRC Garners National Recognition for Excellence in Gender and Development Initiatives
MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has been lauded by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) for its outstanding dedication and performance in implementing the Gender and Development (GAD) Budget Policy, a cornerstone of the government's commitment to gender equality.
The PRC was ranked 4th as the Agency with the Highest Attributed GAD Expenditure and 7th as the Agency with the Highest Client-Focused GAD Budget Expenditure. Atty. Janice P. Castellano, the Chairperson of the PRC GAD Focal Point System Technical Working Group, accepted the award on behalf of the Commission last September 25, 2025. The event highlighted the government's collective efforts to mainstream gender perspectives into all aspects of governance and public service.
The GAD Budget Policy mandates all government agencies to allocate at least five percent of their total budget to programs, activities, and projects that address gender issues and promote women's empowerment. The PRC's high rankings signify its robust financial commitment to translating this policy into tangible actions.
The recognition from the PCW underscores the PRC's role as a leader in advancing gender-responsive governance. It affirms that the Commission's strategic allocation of its GAD budget is effectively breaking down barriers and fostering an ecosystem where all professionals, regardless of gender, can thrive.
