PRC Hosts Regional Engagement on ASEAN Qualifications Framework Alignment and Cooperation
Posted on 18 February, 2026

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) successfully hosted the Third Party Comparison Workshop and the 16th ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework (AQRF) Committee Meeting at the Diamond Hotel, Manila, from February 9 to 11, 2026. The three-day gathering brought together ASEAN Member States, education authorities, and qualifications experts to advance regional cooperation, transparency, and alignment of national qualifications frameworks across Southeast Asia.

To deepen the exchange of best practices, delegates participated in a technical visit to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The visit offered participants valuable insights into the Philippines’ Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system, its quality assurance mechanisms, and the practical application of national qualifications frameworks. The day concluded with a dinner that fostered continued dialogue and camaraderie among delegates.

The event served as a key platform for evaluating the comparability of national qualifications systems against established ASEAN standards, an essential step toward enabling workforce mobility and the mutual recognition of professional qualifications across the region.

Through this initiative, the PRC, under the leadership of Chairperson Hon. Charito A. Zamora, reaffirms the Philippine government’s commitment to advancing quality assurance in professional regulation and education. It also underscores the country’s active role in building an integrated, competitive, and globally aligned ASEAN workforce grounded in excellence and shared regional goals.
