The iGovPhil Project officially adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) as the accessibility standard for all its related web development and services. WCAG 2.0 is also an international standard, ISO 40500. This certifies it as a stable and referenceable technical standard.

WCAG 2.0 contains 12 guidelines organized under 4 principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR for short). There are testable success criteria for each guideline. Compliance to these criteria is measured in three levels: A, AA, or AAA. A guide to understanding and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 is available at:

All iGovPhil Project services and content are currently moving towards WCAG Level A compliance. Work is being done to make the system fully compliant with this level.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Recognizing the valuable contributions of Filipino Mechanical Engineers in the Middle East, the 1st Middle East Mechanical Engineering Summit was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dubai, United Arab Emirates last 01-02 December 2023. The summit with the theme “Empowering Filipino Mechanical Engineers: Pioneering Sustainable Excellence through Unity and Professionalism” provided the participants the opportunity to explore the different aspects of enabling and empowering Filipino mechanical engineers while fostering collaboration, camaraderie, and sharing of insights from their experiences.

Honorable Charito A. Zamora, Chairperson of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), graced the event as the Keynote Speaker. In her message, Chairperson Zamora reflected on the Filipino spirit and ingenuity for every project and innovation contributed by these professionals. She further stressed that their “work will pave the way for a more sustainable, interconnected world, where the excellence of Filipino mechanical engineers will shine brightly”. Chairperson Zamora was joined by the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering, led by its Chairperson, Hon. Leandro A. Conti, and Members, Hon. Jerico T. Borja and Hon. Lorenzo P. Larion, together with other PRC delegates.

A special Oath-taking Ceremony was also part of the event for successful examinees of the April 2023 Special Professional Licensure Examinations (SPLE). Fortunately, gracing the event as one of the oath-takers was Engr. Day Grace Salunga, the first ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) from the Mechanical Engineering profession conferred in 2018. A woman and a Mechanical Engineer by profession, Engr. Salunga currently practices in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Atty. Melisa Jane B. Comafay, Director of the International Affairs Office of PRC, presented the salient points of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Engineering Services, which the Philippines is a signatory of, while Ms. Ella Marie L. Galima of the Qualification Recognition Division discussed the requirements for the application for registration as ACPE. On the other hand, Hon. Jerico T. Borja articulated the career progression and specialization program that will enhance the recognition of Philippine qualifications' value and comparability, significantly supporting the mobility of Filipino professionals globally through mutually recognized qualifications.

The PRC supports the Filipino Mechanical Engineers as they navigate and hurdle the challenges of our modern world. Through their collective expertise, knowledge, and professionalism, Filipino Mechanical Engineers will be at the forefront of sustainable engineering, not just in the Middle East, but across the globe.
