The iGovPhil Project officially adopts the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) as the accessibility standard for all its related web development and services. WCAG 2.0 is also an international standard, ISO 40500. This certifies it as a stable and referenceable technical standard.

WCAG 2.0 contains 12 guidelines organized under 4 principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR for short). There are testable success criteria for each guideline. Compliance to these criteria is measured in three levels: A, AA, or AAA. A guide to understanding and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 is available at: https://www.w3.org/TR/UNDERSTANDING-WCAG20/

All iGovPhil Project services and content are currently moving towards WCAG Level A compliance. Work is being done to make the system fully compliant with this level.

PRC Convenes First Conference for ASEAN Real Estate Service Practitioners

Manila, Philippines— Esteemed guests from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States of America (U.S.A.), together with the accredited professional organizations nationwide gathered as the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC/Commission), through the Professional Regulatory Board of Real Estate Service (PRBRES), successfully held the “Conference for ASEAN Real Estate Service Practitioners” last 25-29 September 2023 at the Hilton Manila Hotel.

The 3-day conference envisioned the engagement of increased representation from the other ASEAN Member States whilst familiarizing themselves with the policies and/or laws regulating real estate professionals in terms of standards of practice (i.e., education requirements, licensing and accreditation, renewal, continuing professional development, and standards) and ethics/canons of conduct across the region, leading the professionals to global recognition and sustained mobility.

As a result of the thorough series of discussions and presentations, the output developed and trajected into something very significant—the signing of the Commitment of Collaboration between the Philippines through this Commission, (1) the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, signed by Mr. Ronny Salomo Maresa, (2) the Thai Appraisal and Estate Agents Foundation, Thailand, signed by Dr. Sopon Pornchokchai, (3) the Ministry of Finance, Viet Nam, signed by Ms. Le Hanh Mai, and (4) the Residential Real Estate Council (RRC) of Chicago, Illinois, USA, signed by Ms. Asuncion Alzona Henry.

The signed instrument is a testament between the parties to support the collaboration while promoting the welfare and advancement of the real estate profession.

The conference was also graced with the presence and support of Honorable Commissioners Jose Y. Cueto, Jr. and Erwin M. Enad and Assistant Commissioner L. Louis P. Valera on behalf of Chairperson Charito A. Zamora. The success of the activity is indeed evident and was made possible through the guidance of the PRBRES, consisting of their Chairperson, Hon. Ofelia C. Binag, and Honorable Members Hon. Pilar M. Torres-Banaag, Hon. Jose Arnold M. Tan and Hon. Rafael M. Fajardo, and in coordination with the International Affairs Office, led by Dir. Atty. Melisa Jane B. Comafay.

Notable attendees of the conference include the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) of the Philippine Department of Finance (DOF), the Philippines Real Estate Service Practitioners, Inc.
