The PRB-Fisheries holds a consultative meeting with the PRC CPSP-CATS PMC to discuss Professional Practice Outcomes in Level Alignment Matrices
MANILA, PHILIPPINES - The Professional Regulatory Board of Fisheries (PRB-Fisheries) successfully concluded its consultative meeting with the Career Progression and Specialization Program-Credit Accumulation and Transfer System Program Management Committee (CPSP-CATS PMC) representatives on 21 April 2025 at the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC / Commission) Office in Morayta, Sampaloc, Manila.
The discussion focused on CPSP’s development and the formulation of the proposed Professional Practice Outcomes in the Level Alignment Matrices (LAMs) for the four (4) initially identified specializations, namely: Certificate in Advanced Aquaculture, Certificate in Advanced Capture Fisheries, Certificate in Advanced Aquatic Resources and Ecology, and Certificate in Advanced Post-Harvest Fisheries.
The creation of the CPSP is pursuant to R.A. No. 10968 or the “Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Act,” which provides the level of qualifications for education, training, and professional practice, and to R.A. No. 10912 or the “Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016,” which mandates the PRC and the PRBs to formulate and implement a CPSP for every profession, subject to consultation with the AIPO/APO, the Civil Service Commission (CSC), other concerned government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
The consultative meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner L. Louis P. Valera, Oversight for CPSP-CATS, Hon. Westly R. Rosario, Chairperson of the PRB-Fisheries, its members, Hon. Catalino R. Dela Cruz, Hon. Gerald F. Quinitio, Hon. Carlos C. Baylon, and Hon. Joebert D. Toledo. Also present were Hon. Cecilia Herras-Tence, Vice Program Manager of the CPSP-CATS PMC, Hon. Jaime Jajay E. Cruz, Chairperson of the CPSP-CATS Technology Cluster and Ms. Pearl Gonzales-Po, Consultant for CPSP-CATS.
